Did you know that individuals with intellectual disabilities have a much higher risk of dying from COVID-19? An alarming study in the New England Journal of Medicine revealed that other than age, having an intellectual disability was the strongest independent risk factor for presenting with a COVID-19 diagnosis and dying from COVID-19. The study concluded that vaccination efforts, screening for COVID-19, and care coordination need to be intensified.
