During the “Honoring Our Heroes” virtual fundraising event, The Institutes of Applied Human Dynamics (IAHD) honored the essential workers of IAHD who are dedicated to the people in their care through the pandemic and beyond. StationMD was awarded the Healthcare Hero Award for the company’s telemedicine service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
IAHD’s mission is to positively impact the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), and their families. Their focus is to understand and respect each person’s unique strengths, qualities and dreams finding ways to support building fulfilled lives.
People with I/DD are at a greater risk of contracting COVID-19 and it is estimated they are up to five times more likely to die from complications related to the disease. StationMD works to keep these vulnerable individuals in their home setting – avoiding emergency rooms, urgent care centers and unnecessary doctor visits whenever possible. StationMD’s specially trained physicians provide 24/7 access to medical care, allowing both individuals and support staff to remain safe and avoid potential COVID-19 exposure.
Dr. Matthew Kaufman, CEO of StationMD noted, “We are very proud to provide medical care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are convinced that partnering with the outstanding and courageous team at IAHD during the COVID-19 crisis has saved many lives. The work, and this recognition, means a great deal to all of us at StationMD.”
