At StationMD, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on Lakeisha Williams from The Arc of Essex County, whose extraordinary dedication and compassion recently made all the difference for one of the individuals in her care.
Molly Murray, a PA at StationMD, recounts Lakeisha’s commitment to care: “Lakeisha at The Arc of Essex County was just such a wonderful presence for her individual this morning. Her staying outside of her shift to help out kept him safe and potentially avoided major problems, because he is wheezing and slightly hypoxic, and she kept him calm by holding his hand and having him sit and sip water, whereas without her he was unsteady on his feet and trying to walk around. It was a very inspiring thing to witness, and she certainly deserves some extra appreciation.”
This nomination perfectly captures what makes Lakeisha exceptional – her willingness to stay beyond her shift when someone needed help, her calm and caring presence during a medical concern, and her instinct to provide both physical support and emotional comfort. When asked what motivates her to excel at her job, Lakeisha’s answer is simple: “Helping the individuals for whom I care.”
Lakeisha’s dedication to service extends beyond her professional role – she is also an ordained minister, bringing a spirit of compassion and calling to everything she does. This background clearly influences her approach to direct support work, as reflected in her advice to colleagues to follow the Golden Rule: “treat other people how you want to be treated.”
Her experience working with StationMD has been invaluable in providing care for the individuals at her residence. As she puts it, “Countless times at this house we have a few StationMD for different ones. It was important to get them quick imperative care.” Under the medical direction of Dr. Deven Unadkat, StationMD has been able to provide the rapid response and expert care that Lakeisha and her team rely on to keep their residents safe and healthy.
